WHO I AM
Who I Am
I’m Morri Bigdeli, a Sydney-based Director of Photography (DP), Cinematographer, Camera Operator, and CASA-certified Drone Pilot specialising in documentary cinematography, cinematic storytelling, and high-end visual production for documentaries, television, travel series, tourism campaigns, and commercial projects.
My work focuses on capturing authentic moments through carefully crafted cinematography, blending technical precision with visual storytelling to create cinematic images that feel natural, immersive, and emotionally resonant.
My journey in cinematography began in 1997 when I studied Cinematography and Photography at the Iranian Young Cinema Society. From 1999 onward, I worked professionally in the film and television industry, contributing to more than fifteen feature films, twenty-five documentaries, and numerous television and cultural productions across Iran.
In 2007, I expanded my creative work into directing and writing with my first feature film, Behind the Gate of History, which premiered in 2009 at the Cape Winelands Film Festival in South Africa an important milestone in my filmmaking career.
Today my work centres on cinematic documentary storytelling, commercial cinematography, and aerial filmmaking. I’m particularly drawn to the unpredictable nature of documentary filmmaking the rare, unrepeatable moments that reveal something real about people, places, and culture.
As a modern cinematographer and licensed drone pilot, I combine advanced camera systems, aerial cinematography, and strong visual language to produce images suitable for broadcast, streaming platforms, tourism campaigns, branded content, and international documentary productions.
Based in Sydney, I collaborate with production companies, agencies, broadcasters, and brands across Australia and internationally, bringing stories to life through cinematic images, thoughtful composition, and a deep respect for real moments.
